Mixed Feelings on Planned Swinemoor Hospital

A decade of complacency by Gordon Brown has meant that with falling growth, rising inflation and high unemployment, the outlook for the UK economy has not looked so bleak since the Tory recession of the 1980s.

Liberal Democrats aim to give every child the fair start they deserve through a transformation of our education system that will build the foundations of a fair society.

 Dr Craig Dobson explains, "We will cut class sizes so children get the individual attention they need to thrive. 

 We will be putting an extra £2.5 billion into schools to pay for more teachers, better discipline and catch-up classes so children get the individual attention they all need.

Holderness villagers were worried that the water level in the Burstwick Drain was rising very rapidly after the recent heavy rain and were keeping their fingers crossed that it would be capable of doing its job.

During his tour of South Holderness on Saturday, Dr Dobson inspected the Burstwick Drain near Pollard's Clough, where Environment Agency engineers had installed a 24" pump to help reduce the water level.

Cllr Carole Lynn, who is a member of The East Riding Flood Protection and Resilience Board, told Dr Dobson that "the Council has employed more drainage engineers to look at issues such as riparian ownership to ensure that ditches are maintained and that there is a stock of sandbags at Hedon."  

Dr Dobson said, "In Beverley and Holderness, flooding and coastal erosion are particularly serious issues.  I want to see flooding issues and shoreline management as a national priority."
