Tourist Information Returns to one Seaside Resort
13th February 2010
|
Residents in Hornsea and Withernsea were dismayed when their Tourist Information Centres were closed without notice this summer.
Hornsea residents, led by Lib Dem activist Polly Worsdale, gave out information to visitors from the Methodist Church porch during August. This was a great success and even featured in the Sunday Times travel pages. Now arrangements are being made to have a Tourist Information Desk at Hornsea Museum. The Liberal Democrats’ candidate for Beverley and Holderness, Dr. Craig Dobson, says “We need to promote our seaside resorts at both Hornsea and Withernsea, to encourage more visitors and support local businesses. Liberal Democrats stand for local decision-making and keeping people informed. Residents should not be kept in the dark and must be enabled to take part in decision-making.” “The Liberal Democrats are the only party in which policies and decisions are made from the grass roots. This ‘bottom-up’ approach means that the man in the street makes the decisions which matter, not the bureaucrats and senior politicians.” |

As thousands in the crowd chanted as one yesterday, and all the news channels carried us live, you could feel that we are shaping the conversation about our next government and the necessity of concrete electoral reform as part of any deal.

Craig Dobson - What I want for Holderness
Holderness is an attractive part of the world in which to live and work. I want to keep it that way. But to do that, we have to make sure that the economy of the area is strengthened and we also have to address some particular problems that Holderness faces, in the local economy; agriculture; rural services; renewable energy; flooding and coastal erosion.. amongst others.

Lib Dem Support Growing, says Craig Dobson
Most commentators agree that Nick Clegg was the clear winner of the first ever TV election debate for Party Leaders - and Vince Cable was the most convincing in the earlier Chancellors' debate. They have proved that the Liberal Democrats are in tune with Britain and have the policies and experience to get the country back on track.
