Tourist Information Returns to one Seaside Resort

Residents in Hornsea and Withernsea were dismayed when their Tourist Information Centres were closed without notice this summer.

Hornsea residents, led by Lib Dem activist Polly Worsdale, gave out information to visitors from the Methodist Church porch during August. This was a great success and even featured in the Sunday Times travel pages. Now arrangements are being made to have a Tourist Information Desk at Hornsea Museum.

The Liberal Democrats’ candidate for Beverley and Holderness, Dr. Craig Dobson, says “We need to promote our seaside resorts at both Hornsea and Withernsea, to encourage more visitors and support local businesses. Liberal Democrats stand for local decision-making and keeping people informed. Residents should not be kept in the dark and must be enabled to take part in decision-making.”

“The Liberal Democrats are the only party in which policies and decisions are made from the grass roots. This ‘bottom-up’ approach means that the man in the street makes the decisions which matter, not the bureaucrats and senior politicians.”
