With by far the majority of Hornsea residents wanting to have a new Floral Hall built on the same site, many questions are being asked as to why the East Riding of Yorkshire Council is planning to build it next to the Leisure Centre.
Proposals to build a lot of houses and flats on green open spaces on the seafront, and without proper consultation, are also being questioned. Liberal Democrats believe in building council houses, but also strongly believe in involving residents in choosing the right locations.
The Liberal Democrats’ candidate for Beverley and Holderness, Dr. Craig Dobson says, “These are two more examples of decisions being made either without consultation, or by simply ignoring the views of residents. It is quite unacceptable for the Conservative-run East Riding Council to act with such lack of respect for its citizens.”
“Liberal Democrats believe in real consultation and a Liberal Democrat MP would be able to take a Tory Council like ERYC to task when necessary much more effectively. It is very difficult for a Conservative MP to challenge a Conservative Council in his constituency openly.”
